Zoom Permission Errors

Fix permission and authorization issues with Zoom integration.

Introduction

Connecting NoteWave to Zoom requires specific permissions through OAuth authorization. This guide helps you troubleshoot permission errors and successfully authorize the integration.

How Zoom Authorization Works

NoteWave uses Zoom's OAuth 2.0 system to securely access your calendar and meetings.

Authorization flow:

  1. You click "Connect Zoom" in NoteWave Settings → Integrations
  2. You're redirected to Zoom's authorization page
  3. You review and approve the requested permissions
  4. Zoom redirects back to NoteWave with an access token
  5. NoteWave securely stores encrypted credentials
Zoom Compatibility
NoteWave bots work with any Zoom account, including free plans. The bot joins your meeting as a participant — no cloud recording or paid Zoom plan required.

Common Permission Errors

Here are the most frequent Zoom permission issues and their solutions:

Authorization Denied

You clicked "Deny" or closed the Zoom authorization window.

Solution:

Click "Connect Zoom" again and approve all requested permissions.

Invalid Redirect URI

The OAuth callback URL doesn't match Zoom's configuration.

Solution:

This is a system error. Contact support if you see this message.

Token Expired

Your Zoom access token has expired and auto-refresh failed.

Solution:

Go to Integrations, disconnect Zoom, then reconnect to generate a new token.

Insufficient Permissions

Your Zoom account doesn't have the required permissions.

Solution:

Ensure you're signing in with a Zoom account that has permission to schedule meetings. The bot works with any Zoom plan, including free accounts.

Reconnecting Your Zoom Account

If your Zoom integration stops working, try disconnecting and reconnecting:

Steps to reconnect:

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations in NoteWave
  2. Find your Zoom connection and click "Disconnect"
  3. Wait 5 seconds for the disconnection to complete
  4. Click "Connect Zoom" and authorize again
  5. Verify the connection shows a green "Connected" status
Token Revocation
If you changed your Zoom password or revoked NoteWave's access in Zoom settings, you must reconnect the integration manually.

Zoom Account Settings

Certain Zoom account settings can prevent bot integration from working properly.

Recommended Zoom settings:

  • Participant permissions - Allow external participants to join meetings (required for bot access)
  • Waiting room - If enabled, you must manually admit the NoteWave bot
  • Join before host - Recommended to enable for automatic bot joining

Connected but Not Joining

A connected Zoom account can still miss a meeting if auto-join is off, the event has no valid Zoom link, or the meeting was created too close to its start time.

Open Integrations, confirm Zoom is connected, verify Auto-join all meetings is enabled, and check that the calendar event contains the complete Zoom join URL.

For a meeting that is about to start, use Record > Paste Link. If multiple eligible meetings are missed, reconnect Zoom and contact support with the event time and timezone.

Still Having Permission Issues?

If you've tried reconnecting and still see permission errors:

What to Include
When contacting support, provide: (1) The exact error message from Zoom, (2) Your Zoom account type (Pro, Business, Enterprise), (3) Screenshot of the error if possible, (4) Whether you can manually schedule meetings in Zoom.
