Delete Your Account

How to permanently delete your NoteWave account and data.

Introduction

If you wish to permanently delete your NoteWave account, this guide explains the process, what data is deleted, and important considerations before proceeding.

Before You Delete

Please consider these important points before deleting your account:

This Action Cannot Be Undone
Account deletion is permanent. Once deleted, you cannot recover your account, transcripts, or any other data.

What gets deleted:

  • Your account profile and settings
  • All meeting transcripts and recordings
  • AI summaries and action items
  • Team memberships (if applicable)
  • Integration connections (Zoom, Teams, etc.)
  • Billing history and subscription information

Alternatives to deletion:

  • Cancel subscription: Downgrade to the Free plan instead of deleting entirely
  • Export data: Download your transcripts before deleting
  • Take a break: Simply stop using NoteWave without deleting your account

Export Your Data First

Before deleting, we recommend exporting your transcripts:

  1. Go to Meetings in your dashboard
  2. Open each transcript you want to keep
  3. Click Export
  4. Choose your format (PDF, Word, TXT)
  5. Download and save the file to your computer
  6. Repeat for all important transcripts

Cancel Active Subscription

If you have an active Pro or Business subscription, cancel it before deleting your account:

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. Click Manage Subscription
  3. In the Lemon Squeezy portal, select Cancel Subscription
  4. Confirm cancellation
  5. Wait for the cancellation confirmation email

This prevents future charges. Your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period.

Delete Your Account

Once you're ready to permanently delete your account:

Step-by-step guide:

  1. Log in to your NoteWave account
  2. Navigate to Settings → Account
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page
  4. Click Delete Account
  5. A confirmation dialog will appear
  6. Read the warning carefully
  7. Type DELETE in the confirmation field
  8. Click Permanently Delete My Account
  9. Your account and all data will be deleted immediately
Immediate and Permanent
Deletion takes effect immediately. You will be logged out, and your account will no longer be accessible.

Team Account Considerations

Special considerations for team members and owners:

If You're a Team Member

Leave all teams before deleting your account. Go to each team and select "Leave Team" from team settings.

If You're a Team Owner

You must first transfer ownership to another team member or delete the team entirely before deleting your account.

Data Retention Policy

After account deletion:

  • All personal data is deleted immediately from active systems
  • Backups are purged within 30 days as part of our automated retention policy
  • Billing records may be retained for up to 7 years for tax and legal compliance
  • Anonymized usage statistics (no personally identifiable information) may be retained for analytics

Can I Reactivate My Account?

No. Once your account is deleted, it cannot be recovered or reactivated.

If you want to use NoteWave again in the future, you'll need to create a new account from scratch. Your previous transcripts, settings, and data will not be available.
